For Clinician Referrals

Welcome.

This space is for those navigating the impacts of traumatic events, experiences of violence or loss, traumatic medical experiences, chronic stress, or life-altering transitions. Healing Hooves offers non-clinical, equine-assisted experiences designed to support feelings of safety, nervous system regulation, and reconnection with nature and self - without the pressure to talk, share or perform. Participation is always consent-based for all participants, and all sessions are gently paced, and professionally guided with care that honors both humans and horses.

What follows offers a closer look at how this space is held.

Restorative to both body and spirit

Healing Hooves does not aim to “fix” or process experiences of trauma. We focus on creating conditions where safety and regulation are possible, recognizing that these are often prerequisites for healing of many kinds.

Our EAT Facilitator & Survivor Advocate Kate, will interpret and explain the behaviors and needs of the horses as they present, and teach the participant how to read such communications as well. The unique connection that can develop between human and horse is powerfully nonverbal and deeply reflective. Our horses naturally respond to human emotional and physical states, offering the opportunity to observe our own personal patterns and recalibrate one’s expressions - nonconfrontationally, and in real time.

As time progresses and the human-horse connections deepen, participants often share growing feelings of self-confidence, self-trust, and senses of agency.

Our Approach

Healing Hooves provides Equine-Assisted Therapeutic Activities [EATA] grounded in neuroscience and animal behavior education, trauma-informed care, and lived experience. Our work centers around calm, consent-based, unmounted interactions with horses to support nervous system settling, cognitive grounding, and developing feelings of relational safety.

We greatly value the opportunity to support Warren and Sussex Counties various Healthcare Resources by offering specially structured, supportive, growth-oriented environments where regulation and presence can emerge organically through shared connection with our horses and with nature.

In addition to our complimentary first individual session, we are proud to offer complimentary Community-Centered Guided Groups - EATA gatherings formed by request, always under ten participants. Choice, pacing, and autonomy are always foundational. Participants are free to explore, share, question and engage, or to step back, observe, and just be present in nature and in the moment. Silence is as respected and understood as equally as meaningful as verbal communication.

Our work serves as a somatic and relational adjunct to psychotherapy and other medical care; and is intended to compliment - not replace - current forms of health treatment.

Our inclusive Wellness Memberships and specific benefits are offered below. No experience required. Just come as you are, and our horses will meet you there.

What to Expect

How Referrals Work

Our Wellness Memberships are designed especially for medically-sensitive clients and their support persons [family, partners, or any individuals living with the survivor]. They are offered to reduce barriers that complicate access to support, and allow all of our beautiful community a space and opportunity for thoughtful reflection.

A gift from this survivor to others: As a potential Wellness or Wellness Support Member, your first session will always be complimentary, offering time for you to experience the work and decide whether it feels right for you - with no obligation to continue. If the experience does feel like a good fit and you wish to continue, all subsequent sessions are offered at 50% reduced for the remainder of the current calendar year.

Participation is always optional, sessions are always paced respectfully, and all sessions are always guided collaboratively with the utmost care for the personal autonomy, safety, and comfort of both human and horse.

Potential Clients can connect with Kate about a complimentary Potential Member Session, or Potential Clients can join below to begin their human-horse journey. No disclosure necessary.
